12-year-old boy killed as truck hits tractor

LUDHIANA: One person was killed while three others were seriously injured when a trolley carrying devotees for the immersion of Ganesha idol was hit by a truck near Ladhowal on Friday at 7 pm.
Meanwhile, the truck driver has been arrested.
The injured were residents of Islam Ganj.
Twelve-year-old Harish Kumar was seriously injured and referred to DMCH. However, he breathed his last within minutes of reaching there.
Sources said the tractor-trolley was coming from Phillaur towards Ludhiana.
Rajinder, one of the eyewitnesses, said, “The truck hit the tractor-trolley at a high speed.” Two persons identified as Sonu and Mahesh Khatri were referred to Christian Medical College and Hospital. While Harish breathed his last at DMCH, another injured was still undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Laddowal SHO Jatinder Singh said, “The accident took place on late Friday evening when a trolley was hit by a truck.”
He said they were investigating the case.
“We have recorded the versions of all eyewitnesses and lodged an FIR against the truck driver.” Angry devotees set the truck on fire. However, the police intervened and doused the flames.
